Garden-Based Education: Towards Sustainable Agriculture

In April 2020, I graduated from Quest University Canada with a bachelors degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences. While this degree does not have official majors, each student articulates a “Question” around which their studies revolve. My Question was: “How can we foster sustainable food systems through education?”

To finish off my studies, I completed a Keystone Project - essentially a bachelors thesis. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to present on our projects in front of a live audience and, instead, were given the opportunity to create a video. This video provides a brief overview of the research I conducted and was produced using Vyond software.

If you are interested in reading more on this topic, I encourage you to read my full Keystone paper. Not only does it provide all the references to support my argument; I also delve much deeper into the issues associated with modern industrialised farming, share an example of a successful garden education program I worked with and offer example lesson plans I have implemented myself.
