Xaviera & Hakate

This character of Xaviera began as a doodle in a math notebook and evolved into the inspiration for a full-blown illustrated novel. The plot is the courtesy of the creative genius that is my friend Fiona Harris.

Unfortunately, we have not had the time to pursue this project to any serious extent, and this may just be one of those projects that will haunt us for the rest of our lives, but only time will tell.

SYNOPSIS

The story revolves around Xaviera (top 2 images) and her friend Hakate (bottom image), who live on a planet called Andorsia - a planet with two moons. They discover a double eclipse is going to happen but their government is trying to keep this under wraps as it is prophesised that, in this event, the world will end.

The government controls the planet’s people through religion and “prophesies”, though in actuality they use science to predict natural disasters and other “prophesised“ events. The government has banned the practicing of science for fear of losing their power, but Xaviera and Hakate are part of a secret science society called the Scentien that is catching up to the government’s scheme. Unbeknownst to Xaviera, the Scentien was founded by her mother, who disappeared five years prior.

Xaviera and Hakate find themselves in a battle against the all powerful government while trying to figuring out what happened to Xaviera’s mother. All the while, the clock is ticking down to an astronomical disaster.
